Ground Control Points (GCPs)

Necessary for accurate georeferencing and photogrammetric processing.

📦 This article has been updated

It’s now part of our improved Understanding Ground Control Points (GCPs) and maintenance.

GCPs are necessary for georeferencing or validating the model we obtain through photogrammetric processing. Without these points, all or part of the scan will not be suitable for accurate volume measurements. It is necessary to collect all the information mentioned above prior to the first flight.

Process for Completing

Once the prelim flight is conducted, we request GCPs locations. The request can be checked via the link in the request email or the link on the card. The surveyor or pilot then places flight markers in the recommended locations and provides exact coordinates. For more details about markers placement, please refer to the Flight Marker Guide.

We suggest providing a full survey report of the Flight Markers measurements in PDF, XLSX, or CSV formats. The GCPs coordinates should be recorded in the project's coordinate system, matching the design data.
