Understanding TraceAir scan tiers

Learn the differences between Silver, Gold, and Platinum scans — data accuracy, tool access, and add-ons.

What are the scan tiers?

Silver (Basic) scans do not use ground control points or a Coordinate Reference System (CRS). Elevation accuracy is not guaranteed — scans may show significant elevation offset. Silver scans have access to all Measure tools, Overlays, Markups, Draw tools, Views, Files, Print, and Exhibits. Silver scans do not include Compare Surfaces, Cut/Fill Balance, Track Quantities, or Saved Quantities.

Gold scans are connected to a coordinate reference system (CRS) with ground control points. Elevation data is accurate and can be compared against the design grade. Gold scans have access to all Silver tools plus Compare Surfaces, Cut/Fill Balance, Track Quantities, and Saved Quantities. Lot Viewer, Slopes Report, and Stormwater Report are available as paid add-ons.

Platinum scans have the same data quality as Gold with premium processing. All Silver and Gold tools are included, and Lot Viewer, Slopes Report, and Stormwater Report are included at no additional cost.

Important: While Silver scans have access to Measure tools, all elevation-based measurements on Silver scans are approximations because the scan is not connected to a CRS. If you see significant elevation discrepancies on a Silver scan, this is expected behavior.

How can I tell what tier my scan is?

In the Scans tab (both Card View and List View), scans are tagged to indicate their tier. Scans labeled Basic are Silver tier. Scans with a Lot Viewer tag have the Lot Viewer add-on applied. If a scan has no tag, it can be Gold or Platinum tier.

Frequently asked questions

How do I upgrade from Silver to Gold or Platinum?

Contact your TraceAir Account Manager or Customer Success specialist to discuss upgrading your scan tier. Upgrading requires Ground Control Points (GCPs) and a Coordinate Reference System (CRS) to be established for your project.

Can I change my scan tier mid-contract?

Yes. Contact your Account Manager to discuss options. Upgrading typically requires additional setup for GCPs and CRS.
